This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines what you may and may not do when using perfumebible.com and any associated applications (the "Platform"). It applies to all users — registered or not — and to all uses of the Platform including browsing, contributing content, using the API, and marketplace activity.
This AUP is incorporated into and must be read alongside the Terms of Service. Capitalised terms not defined here have the meanings given in the Terms of Service. In the event of conflict, the Terms of Service prevail.
Violations of this AUP may result in content removal, account suspension or termination, and where appropriate, referral to law enforcement.
You may use the Platform to:
You must not:
2.1 Scrape or bulk-extract data
Systematically download, scrape, crawl, spider, or otherwise extract data from the Platform in bulk without our prior written consent, whether by automated means or otherwise. Reasonable personal use (bookmarking, copying a note pyramid for your own records) is permitted. Systematic extraction is not.
2.2 Reverse engineer the Platform
Attempt to decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble, or otherwise derive the source code, algorithms, or structure of the Platform.
2.3 Circumvent technical measures
Attempt to bypass, disable, or interfere with any security feature, access control, rate limiting, or other protective measure on the Platform.
2.4 Overload infrastructure
Transmit an unreasonable volume of requests, use the Platform in a way that degrades performance for other users, or conduct denial-of-service attacks of any kind.
2.5 Probe for vulnerabilities
Conduct security testing, vulnerability scanning, or penetration testing of the Platform or its infrastructure without our prior written consent. If you discover a security vulnerability, report it responsibly to security@perfumebible.com.
2.6 Inject malicious code
Upload, transmit, or introduce any virus, malware, ransomware, spyware, adware, or other malicious or harmful code.
2.7 Misuse authentication systems
Share your account credentials with others, create accounts by automated means, or create multiple accounts to evade restrictions or bans.
You must not post, upload, transmit, or otherwise make available:
3.1 Illegal content
Any content that is unlawful under the laws of England and Wales or the jurisdiction in which the content originates or is received, including content that is defamatory, obscene, or in breach of any third party's legal rights.
3.2 Infringing content
Content that infringes any intellectual property right — copyright, trade mark, design right, or otherwise. Do not reproduce substantial portions of third-party reviews, brand copy, or database content without authorisation.
3.3 Private information
Personal data about another individual without their consent, including home addresses, telephone numbers, financial information, or any other information that could be used to identify, locate, or harm that person.
3.4 Deceptive content
False statements presented as fact about fragrances, brands, perfumers, or other users. Satire and clearly labelled opinion are permitted.
3.5 Spam and unsolicited commercial communications
Bulk or repetitive postings, promotional content for third-party products or services not relevant to fragrance, pyramid schemes, chain messages, or any other unsolicited commercial content.
3.6 Harmful content
Content that promotes, facilitates, or glorifies self-harm, violence, or illegal activity.
4.1 Off-platform transactions
Soliciting other users to complete fragrance transactions outside the PerfumeBible marketplace checkout. This is prohibited to protect Buyer Protection coverage and Platform integrity. Sellers found doing this will have their accounts suspended.
4.2 Competing platform promotion
Using the Platform primarily to direct users to a competing fragrance marketplace or platform.
4.3 Automated buying or selling
Using bots, scripts, or automated tools to place orders, inflate ratings, or otherwise manipulate marketplace activity.

5.2 False verification claims
